Coordination with MECC
As an umbrella organization for Migrant Learning Centers, BMWEC coordinates with MECC to provide instructions to migrant learning centers, facilitate data collection, and organize training programs for both teachers and students.
Working with Myanmar MOE
In member schools of BMWEC, Myanmar curriculum textbooks are provided annually. In 2013, BMWEC initiated support for migrant students to take matriculation exams, enabling them to continue their studies at universities in Myanmar.
Coordination with Donors
BMWEC introduces potential donors who focus on various fields such as WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) and infrastructure development. It also connects with organizations that advocate locally and internationally for the education of migrant children.
Education Quality Framework (EQF)
Since migrant learning centers operate outside the support and legal recognition of state authorities, BMWEC plays a crucial role in coordinating the Education Quality Framework (EQF). This framework establishes minimum standards for migrant learning centers in Tak, Thailand.
Monitoring and Visits
BMWEC coordinates partial support for school stationery for students and facilitates visits from donors. It also assesses the strengths and weaknesses of each school, conducting visits to all member schools twice a year.
Child Safeguarding (CSG) Involvement
The Child Safeguarding (CSG) policy has been developed in collaboration with stakeholders from the migrant community to protect students attending migrant learning centers. The BMWEC serves as the focal point for member migrant learning centers, ensuring the effective implementation of this policy. BMWEC actively participates in the negotiation and review of the CSG policy, which includes a clear mechanism for reporting and referral systems.
To guarantee the safety and protection of children in migrant learning centers, we have established and implemented the CSG policy. This policy provides explicit guidelines and procedures for both preventing and responding to child protection issues. It is actively utilized in our member schools in partnership with organizations such as the Mae Tao Clinic.
